Modules Overview
Modules sit in eight categories in the palette on the left. A few modules (Filter, Distortion) cover many DSP algorithms through a single Type / Curve knob rather than a separate palette entry each, which keeps the palette short without hiding anything. Every card also shares the universal controls covered in Card Controls.
Groups
Grey-edged, on its own in the palette. Not a DSP effect - a way to tidy up a big patch by folding a whole chain into one card.
Group
Opens straight into its own working canvas, empty and ready for modules. Back on the main canvas it reads as one ordinary card, Group - <name>, with a plain input and output, so you wire it like anything else - what happens inside stays invisible.
Click the card's Open Group button (or double-click the card) to step inside. Inside, it works exactly like the main canvas: drag modules in from the palette, cable them up, right-click for the usual menus. Two fixed anchors bookend the chain. Group In is always first/left, drawn small since it just passes the incoming signal through untouched - reads as plainly as Audio in does on the main canvas. Group Out is always last/right and carries its own Gain and Mix knobs, so you can trim the group's overall level and dry/wet blend right at its exit instead of adding a separate Gain module - it has no output port of its own in here though, since nothing inside a group should cable off its exit; that job belongs to the one output port on the card back on the main canvas. Every module you drag in lands right after the previous one, keeping that left-to-right order - move things around afterwards as freely as you like, nothing snaps back.
A small tab strip pinned to the top of the canvas - Main plus one tab per group you've built - jumps you straight to any of them, including group-to-group without detouring through Main. Right-click a group's card on the main canvas for Rename Group... and Delete Group (which removes every module inside it too, in one undo step).
Filters
Yellow-edged cards. Tone shaping, from a clean cut to self-oscillating resonators.
Filter
One filter with a Type knob covering twenty algorithms plus a Bypass position, from clean Lowpass / Highpass / Bandpass through self-oscillating Combs and harmonic Resonators to a Sample & Hold - full list below. Scroll the card to change slope on Lowpass / Highpass, or peak width on Bandpass / Peak.
AutoFilter
An envelope-and-LFO-driven filter (auto-wah style) with its own full editor: envelope shape, filter type, LFO, pre/post drive and dry/wet. Its own shorter type list - Highpass, Bandpass, Lowpass, Peak - with the slope / width ladder on all four.
Dual Filter
Two independent filters (A / B), in series or blended in parallel, each with its own type, drive and bandpass width - the full list below, minus Bypass. A Link toggle locks their cutoffs so one drag moves both. Supports Stack.
PhatFilter
A "fatten it" multi-stage character unit modelled on Logic's Phat FX, all in series in one card with its own full editor. Five stages, each with its own (smaller, PhatFilter-only) type list - none of these reuse the Filter Type or Distortion Curve lists below:
One bandpass, not two: a highpass at the lower of Peak 1 / Peak 2 feeding a lowpass at the higher, so only the band between them passes. Each edge has its own Res, and either knob may sit above the other - they swap roles and take their Res with them. A Link toggle (off by default) shifts both together, keeping the width. Character: Classic / Clean / Fat (adds a little low body back under the band) / Sharp, which scale both edges' resonance.
Three independent stages in series, each with its own curve, chosen from the Distortion module's full twenty-one - see the Distortion Curve list. On Resonator / Resonator Even / Resonator Odd the stage's Freq and Range knobs come alive (greyed out on every other curve), and Amount fades the ring in as well as driving it. Each stage sits in its own frame, numbered 1 to 3, with a Swap to button for each of the other two in its header - one click and those two stages trade places in the chain.
Lowpass, Bandpass, Highpass, Notch, Peak, Comb+, Comb-, RingMod, plus the full Resonator / Resonator Even / Resonator Odd, Allpass, Formant, AM, Diode LP, Phaser+/-, Flanger+/-, Chorus and S&H - see the Filter Type list below.
Harmonic or Clean, tuned to a frequency.
FET, VCA or Opto character.
Filter Type list (Filter and Dual Filter)
Pick with the first knob, or right-click it for the full alphabetical menu:
(Dual Filter offers the same list minus Bypass; AutoFilter and PhatFilter use their own shorter lists, see above.)
EQ
Purple-edged cards. Its own category, with a live curve on the card.
Advanced EQ
Up to twelve fully parametric bands (Bell, Low / High Shelf, Low / High Pass, M-Shape, M-Resonator), each with Freq / Gain / Q and a slope. Starts empty: double-click the curve to add a band, drag to shape, scroll to change Q. The first six bands are modulation destinations. Module-wide: Pre-gain into the band chain, Drive and Offset to shift every band's gain and frequency together, Post-gain out of it, and Mix. Supports Stack.
Easy EQ
The same engine locked to three fixed bands - Low shelf, Mid bell, High shelf - for quick tone shaping without band management. Its knobs are modulation destinations too.
In both EQs the solid curve and the dots are exactly what you dialled, so they never move on their own. As soon as Pre/Post-gain, Drive, Offset or Mix leaves its neutral setting, a dashed line appears showing what actually comes out, labelled with whichever of them is doing it.
Distortion
Orange-edged cards. From transparent warmth to total destruction.
Distortion
One distortion stage with a Curve knob covering twenty-one shaping algorithms, from transparent Soft clip to Bitcrush, Decimator and the harmonic Resonators - full list below. Five knobs: Curve, the curve-specific pair, Mix for the module and Blend for the curve's own dry/wet. Supports Stack.
Clip Distortion
A dedicated multi-stage clipper with its own 8-knob editor - input gain, drive, tone, symmetry, clip filter, mix, LP filter, output gain - for more surgical distortion design than the single Curve knob above.
Waveshaper
A drawable transfer curve: shape the input-to-output mapping by hand for custom saturation and folding. Always shows its curve on the card; double-click to open the full editor.
Bitcrusher
Digital degradation with its own 16-knob editor: bit depth, sample rate, jitter, dither, DC shift and preamp, plus a resonant filter and optional aliasing-image and approximation stages.
Distortion Curve list (Distortion module only)
Right-click the Curve knob for the full alphabetical menu. Resonator / Resonator Even / Resonator Odd swap the Drive / Bias knobs for Freq (the resonant pitch, 20 Hz - 20 kHz) and Range (harmonic count/amount, 0-100%) - Drive still works, driving into the resonator for a more excited, saturated tone, just automation/mod-matrix only for these three:
PhatFilter's three distortion units reach this same full list - see PhatFilter above. A unit has one Amount knob rather than the Drive / Bias / Tone / Mix set, so the curves that take those run them at their neutral settings; the three Resonator curves get a Freq and a Range knob of their own per unit.
Dynamics
Teal-edged cards. Level and transient control.
Easy Compressor
Threshold / ratio / attack / release gain reduction - the workhorse leveller.
Advanced Compressor
The full compressor, with its own editor: a soft knee and Peak or RMS detection, plus an OTT mode that squeezes three bands up and down at once, with its own crossovers and depth.
Limiter
A fast, transparent ceiling for peak control.
Gate
Cuts signal below a threshold - cleaning up noise or tightening decays.
Transient Shaper
Independently pushes or pulls the attack and sustain without touching overall level. Its Free / Note pill sets whether it coasts across hits or resets on every MIDI note-on, so a fast-repeating hit always reads as a fresh transient.
Clipper
A dynamics-side hard ceiling, distinct from the Distortion-category clippers. Type knob: Hard, Soft or Saturate.
Spatial
Ocean-blue-edged cards. Time and space.
Advanced Reverb
A richer reverb next to plain Reverb, built as a four-line feedback delay network, with its own editor: Mode, Depth, Pre-Delay, Width and a high / low pass pair to place the tail.
Delay
Free-running or tempo-synced echo with feedback and mix.
Reverb
Hall, Plate or Spring in one module - switch mode with Ctrl/Cmd+scroll on the card.
Modulation FX
Magenta-edged cards. Labelled MODULATION in the palette - not to be confused with the Macro / Envelope / LFO / Mod Matrix system covered In-Depth.
Chorus
Classic pitch-modulated doubling for width and thickness.
Detuner
Detunes the signal against itself for thickness. Spread sets how far the voices sit apart, Width how far they spread across the stereo image, Voices how many there are.
Flanger
A shorter, resonant sweep than Chorus, with feedback for a sharper "jet".
Phaser
Sweeping notches for a classic swirl, free-running or tempo-synced.
Utilities
Grey-edged cards. Routing, clean-up and sound sources.
Band Split
A band splitter, not a processor: passes only the Low, Mid or High slice, with two crossover knobs for the split points. Place one per band, run each into its own chain, then cable them back together - inputs sum every cable that reaches them. Mix crossfades against the untouched input.
DC Filter
Removes DC offset - a clean-up tool, usually placed early in a chain.
FM
Frequency-modulates the signal against an internal carrier for metallic, bell-like tones.
Fundamental Booster
One EQ point set by note instead of by frequency, from C0 to B2, with just Boost and Width - for when you only want to lean on a kick's fundamental.
Gain
A level trim in dB, with its own Mix and Stack (stacking multiplies the gain, handy for pushing past the knob range or driving the next module harder).
Mono Bass
Collapses low frequencies to mono while leaving the rest of the stereo image untouched.
Pan
Stereo positioning.
Pitch Envelope
A hand-drawn pitch contour driving a real pitch shifter on the through signal. Double-click the card to draw it; Range scales it in semitones, Length sets its duration, Smooth tames zipper noise. Free loops the curve; Note replays it once per note-on, then holds its end value.
Pitch Shift
Shifts whatever reaches it up or down by two octaves while keeping the length. Window trades transient bite against accuracy on deep bass.
Ring Mod
Classic ring modulation against an internal oscillator.
Sample
Loads and plays back a sample (WAV / AIFF / FLAC / OGG / MP3) - right-click the card to load a file. Its editor does non-destructive trim, fades, gain, reverse, Normalize and Remove DC, plus two hand-drawn one-shot envelopes over the sample region: Amp Env and Pitch Env.
Sample Delay
Sample-accurate delay for phase alignment between chains, with an optional link between channels.
Scope
A passive waveform monitor that doesn't alter the signal. Also the place you drag a captured hit out of - see Sending a MIDI Note.
Stereo Width
Widens or narrows the stereo image.
Sub Generator
A MIDI-gated sine sub that follows the note you play, with its own attack / decay / sustain / release. Movement adds a slow, non-repeating drift so it isn't a mathematically perfect tone.
Volume Shaper
An LFO-style volume tremolo with a drawable custom shape, free-running or synced.
